This part covers temples in lower south India from early beginnings through temples of Cholas and Pandyas, Muttaraiyars, Irrukavels, Paluvettaraiyars, and other dynasties of the lower south. Arranged by region and dynasty, the chapters also suggest something of the nature of local idioms and regional artistic styles, and are lavishly illustrated with photographs and drawings.
