It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that this
test proctor form is returned by the test proctor no later than January 31. The language test will be mailed directly
to the designated proctor and the
test should be taken in the beginning of March.

All applicants must take a
screening test in the language that they wish to study in the American
Institute of Indian Studies Advanced Language Program in India. The purpose of
the test is for applicants to demonstrate that they have the minimum required
proficiency in the language which will enable them to benefit from an intensive
language program in India. Please keep in mind that the results of this test
will be only one of the factors considered by the selection committee in
evaluating your application. Other criteria include the courses you have taken
and your grades, your statement of purpose, your academic and professional
goals, and your ability to adjust to life and study in India. Your test proctor
should be a faculty member at your university who will be responsible for
administering the language exam. The proctor will not score the test and does
not need to have any knowledge of the language.
