Each year, ISOSA decides a broad theme on which several members want to pursue research. Last year's theme was the effect on Indian art of the new world market. We explored this both ina historical context (such as courtly patronage for export) and in the current situation, We looked at both visual arts and perfoarmance arts, rom the point of view of the collector, the perforner, the artist, and the researcher. The project began as an electonic forum and continued as a panel-in-conjuction at Madison.
