The American Institute of Indian Studies recently launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for an innovative international collaboration, The Jukeboxx Movement in India: From Surviving to Thriving, to promote gender equality through hip hop and Indian arts and culture.

Unfortunately, we were unable to reach our ambitious fundraising goal to send a team of U.S.-based artists and activists to India before our Kickstarter deadline.

However, 43 generous backers pledged over $2400 to the project. Due to Kickstarter’s all-or-nothing format, we do not receive these funds since we didn’t reach our ultimate goal. Our backers have not been charged.

We would like to give our Kickstarter backers a chance to get The Jukeboxx Movement off the ground by making a donation to AIIS. Remember, AIIS is a 501(c)3 organization and contributions are tax deductible.

We are now asking to help raise $2500 to send Ansley Jones, Project Director of the Jukeboxx Movement, to India to carry out programs and educational outreach. AIIS will award Jones with a Performing and Creative Arts Fellowship.

AIIS will use funds from other sources to sponsor Jones’ activities in India. We just need your help to get her there.

100% of funds raised here will go to airfare and maintenance for Ansley Jones in India. We are asking our Kickstarter backers to match their original pledge, dollar-for-dollar, to help make this project a reality.
