AIIS remains committed to building and growing the field of Indian Studies in the United States. In the face of US federal funding cuts and reductions, AIIS is having to rethink what fellowship support for travel to and research in India we are able to offer; delaying our announcement of fellowship applications until the Fall.
In October 2025, AIIS will announce revised fellowship categories and terms for the coming year. AIIS will continue to provide assistance for scholars heading to India, including help with research permissions, local support through our Delhi office, and building networks and connections for research. The full details of the competition and awards are still being finalized and we ask for your patience until we can announce them.
