AIIS has been partnering with the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) to hold faculty development seminars called “Exploring Urban Sustainability through India’s Cities” in India. The seminars are designed for faculty at community colleges and minority-serving institutions, in order to promote the development of “internationalized” learning environments that both broaden their students’ cultural horizons and foster critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills for an increasingly interconnected world. AIIS has also offered funding for alumnae of these seminars to carry out follow-up projects in India and is committed to exploring ways to foster collaborations among faculty at community colleges and MSIs in order to develop new research projects, curricula and learning modules; study abroad programs for students, and other projects in India for faculty including seminars and tours intended to visit sites and to promote collaborations with Indian colleagues.
